THE CHALLENGE

Radley James began as a small organisation of eight staff with no network infrastructure running a mixture of software across various hardware devices with little or no standardisation.  It soon became apparent that this setup was no longer viable for Radley James  Their main challenges were:

•  No room for scalability or mobility
•  Inability to share data securely
•  Constant challenge to ensure commercially sensitive information is kept secure
•  Minimal resilience or redundancy

As an ambitious recruitment company operating in a highly competitive environment during an economic downturn, cost was a major consideration to Radley James.   They therefore needed a scalable and cost-effective solution.

THE SOLUTION

After working closely with Radley James to ascertain the requirements of their partners, the best option was to provide a hosted cloud solution (SentroCloud).  This helped avoid any expensive upfront hardware costs, leaving Radley James with a cost effective monthly recurring fee and money to reinvest in their growing business.

Users were provided with thin client terminals, a cost effective desktop arrangement, which allowed them to run Terminal Services sessions to securely access their relevant email, data and applications.

Scalability & Mobility

• The solution was modelled on a per user basis to keep overheads low (including licensing) and also assist with internal budgeting when a new user is added (or removed).
• With a new infrastructure hosted offsite, users are now able to centrally share data via secure access.  Updating and rolling out software is made a lot easier through a cloud solution, as it is all hosted in the Cloud within Sentronex’s data centre. 

 

 

• With Terminal Services, senior management also have the ability to work from remote locations securely via remote access; this was previously not possible.

Resilience

• As Radley James was on a tight deadline, and with long lead times to implement leased lines, quick and reliable connectivity was needed.  Their existing communications link was upgraded to accommodate heavier use of internet traffic via the hosted solution. 

• A managed cloud backup solution was also implemented for both email and file data for increased resilience.

Security

• Thin client terminals were also chosen to help ensure that no local profiles are created; this increased security. 

• This was combined with strong group policies that disabled USB drive access – users are therefore prohibited from downloading sensitive company information.  These group policies apply to whichever hardware is used when running a Terminal Services session. 

• Anti-spam and antivirus was also standardised for all users.

 

THE RESULT

Radley James began with minimal infrastructure, but now has a solution that allows for scalability and increased security.  With their infrastructure being hosted offsite in a purpose built data centre, Radley James can benefit from increased resilience and physical security should they wish to move offices in the future. 

Radley James is planning to expand onto international soil in the near future and this solution would easily allow for a continued and scalable growth.
